Doctor/Parent Notes
I've been getting LOTS of notes from families (not official doctor's notes) excusing their student on known "Pacer" or "Mile Run" days. Though many of these may be valid, there are many notes that come in from kids who are outdoors running around at recess. Please help support what I am doing in physical education class - which is PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES for lots and lots of practice in the areas of physical conditioning. I don't believe in holding kids accountable for reaching certain National Standards without giving them LOTS OF OPPORTUNITIES to practice and build up their strength, endurance and most-important - THEIR CONFIDENCE!!!! What I'm having kids do in Heath & Fitness class aligns with what kids their age should be able to do - as long as they are given a safe and encouraging environment. Excusing them from these activities does not help them get better, but sets them back. I believe in your kids - Please help me teach them to believe in themselves!
**Official doctor's notes will obviously excuse students with valid health concerns. Those kids will either go to the health room or work on a book report relating to "health" in the gym.
